Greetings from Park City!
It has been a while since we posted last, and so much has happened!
I am posting some pictures from the photo shoot that took place showcasing some of our great summer clothes and Jewelry.

For those of you who don't know, we moved to Park City from Salt Lake City in late December.
It has been a perfect fit and we have decided to stay.

This model is showing off a pair of our sassy shorts on the town lift bridge. The corseted tank looks great paired with a summer scarf or by itself. Throw a flower in your hair and you are set with the most current look for the season.

If you are looking for something great to pair with leggings and again a summer scarf, this burnout tank/tunic is perfect.
The color is playful and versatile.
Notice the feather clip in the hair. If it isn't a flower, feathers seem to do the trick this season too.

This dress has been so popular, some of you may have already purchased one. It is the perfect piece for spring, summer, fall and winter, but since we are going in to summer, we are showing how fabulous it is paired with a scarf, clutch and the perfect necklace.
I am telling you, this dress looks great on EVERYONE.


This outfit combines so many elements and the result is a really great look.
The vest is very simple and is just the right amount of color. I am in love with the double braided leather belt too. I personally picked out the vintage one of a kind scarf and if someone doesn't buy it soon, I think I will add it to my own collection. It is a great piece.

This shirt is a store favorite. It is the perfect piece to wear to dinner, a concert, BBQ, you can't lose. The cut is great on any body type and comes in orange, navy and gold.
Check out the bangles and cool yellow clutch. It makes me want to find an occasion to dress up.

This week I am going to tell you about artist Jessi Taylor.
Her creations are great at a glance, but if you take a closer look you can see and appreciate the detail in her work.
Jessi has been known to create texture by, in her own words,"taking a piece of silver outside and hammering it on the concrete..."

I'm obsessed with making stuff, and i make stuff all the time. but what really gets me going is when i can make a PILE of something... collaged cards, oatmeal cookies, sterling silver rings set with typewriter buttons... then i like to lay them all out and gloat over my hoard!!
I've been silversmithing off and on for about ten years.



- first took a few metalsmithing classes at my local community college, then took about 6 years off to travel and screw around.


i settled down and got serious four years ago and enrolled in the university of Washington, and in 2006 received a bachelor of fine arts (bfa) in metals. i love school! i quit my day job later that year, and haven't looked back since.


my goal is to make interesting, wearable, quality jewelry. i often work with natural stones, found objects and alternative materials, and i just love plain ol' metal.


i also get really into creating stories about my jewelry: where it could have been, where it will go, or what it is in tribute to...



everything is made of sterling silver (and sometimes a little gold), and everything is handmade by me - no two things are exactly the same.


recently, i've been really liking it when something retains the marks of construction on it; so lots of my pieces still have hammer marks, wonky shapes and little imperfections. this is one way that makes each piece as unique as its wearer!



a couple of notes about materials:

i like to work with the real deal




*all metals that you see will be solid silver or gold (and sometimes a little bit o' copper), and will be labeled as such. i've switched suppliers and am now using metal that is 100% recycled (not mined)!



*same goes for stones; they're all natural, not lab-created. in a lot of cases, i get really good deals on stones that are not flawless... in fact, many are totally full of weird bits and pieces of detritus that give them tons of character! or wonky cuts, inconsistent colors and teensy chips! this allows me to give you a good deal on handmade goodness, and also to use beautiful, imperfect stones that otherwise would be wasted. win-win-win!!


*i also use a lot of random materials, since one of my favorite things EVER is bezel-setting whatever i set my fancy on...

This Weeks Featured Artist

This week I am happy to tell you about artist Meagan Schafer.

The first time I held one of her pendants in my hand I was mesmerized by the detail and simplicity of her work.


Each piece creates a sense of wonder. "How did she do that with a piece of wood"? Was the exact thought that I had.



Just the uniqueness of each creation is reason to own one.
These wooden pieces look and feel great against your skin, and there is something really fantastic about wearing art that has a part of nature as its inspiration.

I live in Vancouver, BC Canada with my partner Daryl, who shares my love of woodworking. I have a BFA from Emily Carr University where I studied mostly photography.

I wasn’t really feeling the photography so I continued my education at Camosun College in Victoria, BC where I studied Fine Furniture. This was my first exposure to ‘real woodworking’ and I’ve been hooked ever since.


In the four years since completing school, I’ve worked for other people building custom furniture, but in my spare time I was working on building and outfitting my own wood shop.



During the times that I didn’t have room or tools to
be building furniture, I started playing around with making jewelry and it has been snowballing ever since.



Right now I work at Emily Carr University part time as a wood shop technician mostly in the Industrial design wood shop, which means that I supervise and assist students in the wood shop.


I love being back in the school environment with all the great ideas floating around. I do the work because I love it, but I’m also glad to be an example to so many young people to think twice about gender appropriate rolls.
When I’m not at my ‘day job’, I’m in my own shop usually making jewelry, or I’m working on our house, which is in constant need of attention.


I love the balance of having a part time job as well as my own business. I enjoy the social aspect of working with the people at school but I also enjoy the solitude and freedom of working on my own. I’m tickled that people enjoy my jewelry. I hope people love it for what it is but also for what it represents. It’s a mass produced world we live in and I hope people feel great about wearing something that was hand made in a sustainable, responsible way; up here in an igloo in Canada- just kidding!

This week, Fawn is happy to present Tiffany Brassard.



Tiffany's jewelry line is a customer favorite at Fawn. Her designs are unique, bright and creative.
They have been referred to as the "perfect" piece more than once.

SAEE are the initials of my four awesome kids! I am a stay at home mom of one teenager, twins, and a boy toddler.




Making jewelry is my outlet and my time for ME!




I became a stay at home mom due to the fact that my twin girls were born with severe disabilities. They are blind, spastic quad, tube-fed, wheelchair bound and despite everything Dr's told us at birth...they are now five years old.




I started making jewelry about a year ago and it has become my outlet and has been very therapeutic for me.






I use a lot of new materials but love using found items in my creations.




I love simple, unique and one of a kinds.




My husband and I recently relocated to Tuscaloosa, AL from Vicksburg, MS and we are loving it here!

Artist Natalie Wedeking

This week our featured artist is Natalie Wedeking of Brooklyn, N.Y.
Natalie's rings, earrings, hairpins and necklaces are inspiring works of art.

In Natalie's own words....

WHAT DO YOU DO?
In addition to creating jewelry, I am a self-employed package/graphic designer in Brooklyn, NYC. I design food and beverage packaging, paper goods and all kinds of other things for a variety of clients.


I've been making jewelry for myself and friends for years; I started taking it more seriously, as a focused line, about a year ago. I've been working with polymer clay, off and on, for the past 15 years and now I'm excited about combining it with metal, leather and other materials.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?
Graphic mixed-media. I combine leather, metal, plastic, glass, stone and polymer clay to make my jewelry. I like to keep things colorful. Polymer clay, the way I use it, lends itself to abstract florals and flat, graphic patterns like woodgrain. I layer it almost like paint, often very precisely and geometrically, but in flattening and finishing a piece, the nature of the clay takes over and the end results are unpredictable and very interesting.



WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Good package design, poster art, old marimekko patterns, William Morris wallpapers, Scandinavian folk art, prefab housing, old book covers, vintage signage - pretty much anything made before 1975. And the things I love in graphic design - flat color, patterning, unusual color combinations - show up in my jewelry.
